Advocacy Services for ACC Claimants |
Our Fees and Charges
In summary:
- Cost of first talking to us: Free
- Following that there may be an initial payment required to then cover the cost of us determining the viability of your case - obtaining and reviewing your file, seeking medical opinions and so forth - please ask.
- Cost to you of our representation at Review (after deducting 'costs available'): $0 plus disbursements (e.g. travel) and an agreed success fee.
Access Support Services is a private organisation dedicated to the best interests of ACC claimants. As such it must pay for its operating and staff costs. As found on our home page the first consultation is free and we are often able to assist past that at little or no end cost to you. So what is meant by that?
- Have no hesitation in contacting us with your ACC problem - if we can help we will and until we come to any agreement on fees there will be no charge.
Where the problem with ACC cannot be resolved by discussion we prefer to address matters through the due processes available - largely at Review or Mediation.
In these forums it is possible to have a contribution made towards the costs of our representation on your behalf - but only where the case is reasonable and has a sound basis.
To access the costs available at Review you do need to have an ACC Decision letter (or unsatisfactory Individual Rehabilitation Plan). If you have one of these do have it to hand when you contact us.
- Our fees will be negotiated with you depending on the case. (It may be helpful before contacting us to ask yourself the dollar value to you of the ACC problem you are facing)
- Where a case must be decided at Review (that is, ACC are resolute in their position) a modest initial payment is usually sought from you depending upon what is required. Do discuss it with us.
- We will also discuss with you the other costs, if any, that you may incur through us. You will have a clear idea of what is involved and will not face any 'surprises'.
In most cases, apart from the initial payment and any success fee, many clients face no end cost at all. That is, most of the costs you incur at Review may be recoverable through the 'costs available' at Review.
- Should you wish to limit your costs with us we are also able to discuss terms based on a 'success fee' or hourly rate.
- Throughout the process you will find yourself liable for any disbursements raised. This means that should you agree to further medical reports or copies of case law, for example, being obtained you will bear the cost of those. Do note though, upon success the cost can usually be recovered from ACC.
